• New DGNB version introduces new requirements – what does it mean for your project?

DGNB version 2025 introduces updated criteria for construction products and documentation. This affects how products are evaluated within the certification, what documentation is required, and how projects can achieve higher levels and additional points.

    What is DGNB version 2025?

DGNB version 2025 is the latest version of the certification system for sustainable buildings, where the criteria for construction products, documentation, and follow-up have been updated compared to previous versions.

    Stricter requirements for quality levels

DGNB version 2025 introduces updated criteria for construction products and documentation compared to earlier versions. This affects both how products are evaluated within the certification and what documentation is required in projects.

In practice, this means that some products that previously achieved the highest quality level may now only meet the requirements for a lower level.

Additional points – new opportunities in DGNB 2025

The new version introduces the possibility to earn additional points independently of the standard quality levels. To achieve these, products must, among other things, comply with relevant EU Taxonomy requirements and must not contain intentionally added PFAS substances.

    Increased documentation requirements

The documentation required for additional points often differs from that used for standard quality levels. In many cases, more detailed information about the product’s chemical content is needed – not only traditional documents such as safety data sheets.

This means that additional points can be difficult to achieve if you rely solely on the documentation typically available in projects.

The three most important implications are:

    • More detailed information about substances and content is required

    • Better overview of products within the project is needed

    • Standard documentation is not always sufficient

What does this mean for your project?

To determine whether products meet the new requirements in practice, more detailed documentation and better visibility into product content and properties are often required.

This means that projects need to work more systematically with collecting, reviewing, and managing product data.

SundaHus helps collect and structure this information, making it easier to work with DGNB requirements in practice.
