AI was in focus when we at iBinder Group, together with colleagues from iBinder and Avima, attended the AI Day for the built environment in Stockholm. The day offered many perspectives on how the technology can create value in the industry, but also what is still holding back progress.
Decisions are made earlier in projects
One key insight is that AI is moving decision-making earlier in projects. With improved analytical capabilities, more decisions can be made already in the planning and design phases. This increases the need for the right information to be available from the start.
Structured data remains a challenge
At the same time, a familiar challenge kept coming up: data. Many organizations sit on large amounts of information, but it is often unstructured, difficult to share, and even harder to use in practice. Without clear structure, it is difficult to unlock real value.
Growing need for transparency
We also see an increasing need for transparency. To make confident decisions, both data and processes must be traceable and understandable, especially in complex construction projects involving many stakeholders.
For us, the day confirmed the direction of our work. Creating structure, accessibility, and control over project information is essential to making meaningful use of new technology in the built environment sector.
